Ebay snipers can kiss my ass! Though on second thought, they can't because my ass is too bootylicious for their likes, weasely jerks! Ah well, I'm creative and resourceful when it comes to gift giving so I'll do fine (and perhaps direct some money locally rather than to some person elsewhere in the country). Bwahahaha!

Date: 2006-01-19 04:47 am (UTC)I mean, it's either that OR you keep driving up the price because someone gets into a bidding war with you just out of sheer stubbornness. (And yes, that someone was once me, when I was new to Ebaying. There I was, bidding another dollar, another dollar, another dollar. I once paid $30 too much for something I believed was a rarity, only to find the same thing reappear over and over and over each week. Thank goddess my iridescent carnival glass addiction is over!)

sniping
Date: 2006-01-18 05:01 pm (UTC)THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE BOOTY! :)
In all seriousness, I understand that sniping works. I was expecting it, and waiting for it and watching the auction as it was ending . . . I just didn't click fast enough to up my max bid in the last second! Its probably a good thing though, because it was way higher than I wanted to be paying for the damned thing. I just hope that my initial high bid made them pay more than they expected to in the end via sniping, the bastards!
Re: sniping
Date: 2006-01-18 05:40 pm (UTC)For some stragne reason seeing you post that phrase has me thinking: "CAN'T TOUCH THIS!" :-)
Re: sniping
Date: 2006-01-18 05:49 pm (UTC)That's the way I always try to look at it. Most snipers have software that does the sniping for them, so they don't even have to work hard to outbid us. I rarely buy anything on eBay that isn't a Buy It Now. I just don't have the patience, and therefore very rarely win.

Date: 2006-01-18 06:06 pm (UTC)If a Bid is received within 1 hour of close of the auction it pushes out the auction by 4 hours.
This would be like.. going once.. going twice kind of thing. A seller would get more $$ for his item and people would not beable to snipe

Date: 2006-01-18 06:31 pm (UTC)If a new HIGH Bid is received within 1/2 hour of close of the auction it pushes out the auction by 1 hour.
I think this accomplishes the goal, but still closes out the auction in a more reasonable ammount of time. This would also prevent a bunch of low bidders from keeping an auctiuon going indefintely without changing the actual status of the auction results.
