I got Brian up yesterday morning at the same time as I usually do for Ballet class so that he could do the Home Depot run while I was out. We started after class and lunch, and by 6:00 PM had:
-closet framed
-drywall up
-plastering done

We made dinner, showered off of the sweat (blech!) and caught Underworld Evolution in Framingham. Not bad! I wasn't expecting a stellar story or acting, and it was definitely better than I expected (more plot points, more gore and more pretty than the first, imo).

Today we've sanded plaster, primed the closet and will put on finishing touches. Brian's putting some baseboards and trim up now, we'll need to make another Home Depot trip for the closet pole and shelf for inside, and once the primer is dried those and the doors will go on. It will be nice to clean the place up and settle in again!

The paint will wait a bit (the whole room will be painted at some point, probably with the gray that Brian has left over from his computer room, because I like it, we have over a gallon in the basement already, and it will go well with the curtains). It will be a classic BRIGHT Jodi room (though not as bright as that teal I had in Framingham) in a Middle Eastern theme, based around curtains that I picked up at Target with orange, fuschia and red. Its from this series of stuff http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_4/602-2682302-7779015?%5Fencoding=UTF8&asin=B0006HJMKG , though the Target site doesn't have the curtains themselves listed. They'll match the framed Fosse print I have, and bring some life to the room.

Its amazing how nice the closet looks in there! It looks like it belongs in the space its in, and I think it will actually make the room look larger given that things will get in there all organized like (rather than being out in the room). It would definitely be usable down the line if we decide to make that room our bedroom, or have some other purpose for it.

Pics forthcoming, when its all done (or at least done save for paint that will come later when I feel like it).

Are you documenting all of this house work you've been doing? You'll have a great before-and-after album to show!
