Goodbye Betty! http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/02/04/friedan.obit.ap/index.html Thank you for what you have done for us all.
It was a weekend for dancing. On Friday I caught up with "Dancing with the Stars", wow, was that some Samba from the wrestler! I want to go to a Samba bar now! Saturday would bring with it a great ballet class (as usual) and dancing at the Ball in Arlington. Its funny, I talked with a lot of older Netgoth folks that I hadn't in a while. I wonder if the loss of Man Ray puts this urge to connect in with people you met in the earlier days of the club?
We woke up early yesterday to troop in the White Mts area of NH only to find that Kiss 108 (who asked us to be there) didn't show up. Nice! Still, we got to make a bunch of kids happy, got some good photos, and had a neat lunch in an apparently haunted old inn in Laconia right off of 93 (Kalliope).
More dance goodness would be had last night, when I finally saw "Mad Hot Ballroom". Man, those kids were impressive! I'm so glad that the team from Manhattan won. The kid who did the Rhumba in the final competition who didn't speak much english had the most mesmerizing greenish eyes and WOW, could that 11 year old move! It was interesting to see the earlier interviews with the kids and see how their opinions of dancing together changed over the weeks of training, and learn of the issues they faced in their daily lives. When I was in 5th grade I was nowhere near thinking of what I'd want in a future mate ("I don't want him to be a drug dealer. I want him to go for an education and make something of himself. I want him to respect me."). The intelligence, maturity and perseverance of these kids is really inspiring!
This week will bring our tax return, Thursday's Ominous Collective, and Brian's birthday. I can't believe its already almost mid-February!
