Wow, busy weekend!

Ultraviolet was less good than I expected (and I wasn't expecting much), though seeing friends was nice.

We had some time on Saturday and hit Salem so Brian could look for some geeking things and get new boots at Army Barracks (the Kenmore Army Navy in Watertown has closed). Of course, we needed to get some of Bert's Horrible Cookies! After some time in Barnes and Noble (our house *is* a Queen Anne Victorian - all research from architectural books indicates it) we went to the show. The Bellydance Superstars were very good, very entertaining, and more than I expected. I particularly liked the ton of green costumes (you know how hard it is to find good green bellydance costumes?), the Latin/Bellydance medley (Flamenco, Cha Cha, Samba and Salsa/Mambo (I can never tell the difference, really)). Yesterday's PreOscars party thing was neat, we got to be on TV and around celebrities.

Unrelated, I posted about Eve Ensler's The Good Body here http://dancer.livejournal.com/750838.html?thread=2837494 . March is just a busy, expensive month so I'm going to have to skip this.

I spent time at the library this weekend and met with someone from the Waltham Historical Society. I've learned who lived in our house and when (with some minor gaps in information, but I'm pretty sure that the families living before and after that time probably were there over the duration, since people didn't move as often). The next stop will be to spend some time at City Hall in the Building Department to see if there are plans and/or photos of our original house. Brian and I also did some poking at Home Depot on shutter and storm door options. I'm excited about cleaning up some things in the exterior of the house, now that the interior is under control.

Wow, you guys had a pretty full weekend! We have been thinking about going to see Ultraviolet, with awareness that it is just for the gratuitous violence and gadgets. :)

We did see Why We Fight, which was interesting. I really am scared of my government. Yeez.

My very good friend/former roomate Sharon Kihara did a fantastic job plus her whole group. She seemed very happy to see me after the show. :-)

She was definitely captivating to watch (its the first time I'd seen the BDSS live).

I can definitely see where some criticisms of this tour came from from others, but being someone with more dance experience in other forms than in middle eastern dance (so I'm not a BD 'purist'), I enjoyed it quite a bit! :)
