As the weather gets warmer I'm thinking more of making our outside property a nicer place to be and see. Last year I got the front yard in more order and we planted an herb garden in a small bed next to our garage. I also weeded, cleared out and mulched the area around a large tree in our back yard. This year we'll repair and paint our porches, get a nice, new patio set, and I'll tackle the other yard edge areas.

Brian is also getting a large Lilac bush for me, and having it planted somewhere smart (landscaper to be consulted) for my birthday (which isn't until late June, but planting should happen in the spring so he's already told me about it). We had Lilac at the house in Wellesley and I LOVED the smell, and had fun picking bunches to sit in drinking glass vases on the kitchen table or sills. Its nice to have a place now that is worth our while to stick things in the ground (versus in Framingham, where we knew we wouldn't be for the long haul).

I wonder, how well a LA plant would fare in New England. Princess Leia Iris anyone: http://www.starwars.com/kids/explore/reallife/f20060313/index.html ?
