Weird

Brian and I were driving home from the supermarket, talking about how weird it is to be without Max. Our house just seems so empty not having a kitty there. We thought we'd go out to Pet World (where we've adopted both bunnies from, and where friends have adopted pets from). There were many cute kitties there, but none that seemed like they'd be it. Brian wants to adopt every cute fuzzhead he meets, but I just have to have a right feeling, you know?

We headed home after buying glue sticks (the initial reason for the trip out west) and I popped online to check out some shelter sites. Charlie just made me say "OH" out loud: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=5231853 . I've always loved tiger cats and told Brian that I'd want the next to be one too, if it worked out that way. Brian's on the phone with the adoption coordinator now, and learned that Charlie is currently living outside in Everett of all places (where Brian grew up). Of all places, Brian would want to get the poor guy out of there. He's estimated to be around 2-3 years old, so tomorrow we'll fill out their little application form and if approved (which I'm sure we will be) they'll put us in touch with the foster mom.

Awww! If things don't work out, our neighborhood stray just had another litter under my neighbor's porch--I think the current mother is half-sister to my three cats. There look to be about four; if you want one or two, let me know and I'll see if I can snag one.

one of my co-workers just lost a kitten... they had adopted one, and she died soon after being born. they can't find any shelters that will let them take 1 kitten, but they *really* don't want two.

Our local animal hospital (Tashjian Animal Hospital in West Boylston, if I spelled it correctly) routinely gets strays, and is happy to let them go one at a time. I also have live-catch traps, so I could try to snag one of these--they tend to be clever, though, so no guarantees there.

They're pretty young, so they should socialize easily. If your co-worker wants me to try to grab one, give him/her my email address--andrew dot feland at gmail dot com.

I tend to want to save every cute fuzzy thing I see, too, so I try not to check out Petfinder too often. I ended up with twin kittens last time.

But that's one handsome cat there. And adult animals are adopted far too infrequently, so it's nice when someone will save them.

Charlie's one of the cats we were considering going to meet before we got Fiona!

Charles River is a good establishment, I met with one of their other foster moms during our search. I'm actually planning to do some volunteer work with them this summer. If you need a reference, feel free to have them call me.

We got Poe about a month after Lady Fluffy had passed away. It never felt like a replacement to me. I was more concerned about Mystique being lonely, who had lost her sister Jewel the year before.
