I received the Fabric Place class catalog in the mail last week, and decided that I'm actually going to take a couple! I signed my Mom and I up for the 9/30 Knitter's Breakfast in Framingham (they are doing them at all stores at the same time that day): "A light breakfast and early morning "knitters only" shopping experience. Trunk shows, special guests and Fall knitters preview. $5 registration fee is redeemable in merchandise." I've wanted to check this out this year but its always on a Saturday. I don't think it will kill me to miss ballet on 9/30, so I signed up myself plus one.

I've started watching Knitty Gritty (taping it on our cable box) and am excited about finishing up my alien scarf and working on some new projects.

I also signed up for a 2 night 'Getting to know your serger' class in Framingham in early November. Its a two hour a week, two week course on Wednesdays (6:00-8:00) and I'm hoping it will make me feel a bit more secure in using my machine, that sits dusty and neglected.

As far as projects go, I have a simple, casual dress to finish for DragonCon and some mending. Then I need to adjust my dress form to my size and alter all of my work clothes so they fit the new me . . . my pants are hanging way down low given the change in my hips and waist, and they are looking really unflattering as a result. Why spend $ on new clothes when I can just take a little time and make the ones I have fit? :) Having a new craft room space will serve to provide some inspiration to the both of us, I think.

Get there as way early before 9 as possible. I've gone to the past two bfasts. I walk out of there happy with sales on yarn, and so far I've won over $200 worth of yarn!

And I will be at this one as well. YAY!

Thanks for the tips! We're morning people, so my guess is that we'll be there between 8:00 and 8:30. I'll see you there! :)

My bad. I meant before 8, not 9. Last time, the Fabric Place employees were telling me the women were wating outside the doors to be let in when the store opened. Some had been there before 6.

I will be aiming for 7ish myself.

Given my obsession with cloth diapers, and the fact that my mother is a seamstress and that fact alone is reason enough that I should at least be able to sew a straight line by now, I have decided that I want to learn to sew. My mother is very happy, and plans to teach me the basics. Of course, I'm concerned that I won't have much room to work in our new place, but that's ok. I'm excited :)

Er...my point being that I want to be able to sew my own diapers eventually.
