Mal's going to our regular vet today at 11:30 (Brian's taking him) because his belly is a bit drippy, poor guy.

It was clear this morning when I left that he had licked at it (somehow got the e-collar out of the way while I was sleeping in there with him) but at that point (7:00 AM) it wasn't oozy or anything. By the time Brian was up a few hours later it was clear and drippy. The vet doesn't seem to be too concerned and said it was OK to wait for this appointment, but they still want to see him. My guess is that they'll shoot him full of antibiotics.

Poor Brian. Our TV seems to be broken this morning too - there is no picture coming up and either Mal disconnected something in back of the entertainment center over the night, or the thing just chose to die now. Its kind of old, so it wouldn't be surprising. Brian hooked it directly to the DVD player and still no picture, so unless a wire is damaged somewhere the thing is probably toast. Well, it is tax free weekend and all :/

Brian doesn't deal well with too much happening at once, and he was supposed to go back to work today. Poor guy. At least I'm only working a 1/2 day today, so I'll be home to see them when they return from the vet.

Damn. At least this is kind of a mellow weekend for us, and we can be around a lot to look after the little guy.

And hey, our porches will be all painted tonight!

Your vet will probably already do this, but if not, ask for a hard plastic e-collar. My cat has been thru several operations and the vets I had always said the soft e-collar is a bad idea..cats can bend it around and get to their wounds. As torturous as it seems, the hard e-collar is the only way to insure that your cat won't mess with his suture site.

They did indeed give Mal a hard plastic collar. He's sleeping now, and hopefully later will figure out how to eat and drink with the thing :)

The kitties are remarkably resourceful with the collars. The secret is to make sure it's tied on their tightly enough if you ever do remove it (which you probably shouldn't..) you'll think it's too tight and the next minute you'll see him running around the house sans collar..so make it tighter than you think you should.
