A night alone

Brian was off trooping to promote the new SW DVDS last night, so I had the night to myself. I'm amazed at what I'm able to get done in these times, so I kind of look forward to them. It was also the first night that I went to bed without Brian being around since we got Mal and Jayne. They were super, super affectionate all night, and both of them followed me up to bed and pretty much stayed there all night. They are so adorable and I can't even get upset when Mal wakes me up to play at 3:00 AM or Jayne attacks my feet as they move under the blankets. They were really interested in those crazy noises coming from our radiators when the steam heat kicked on for the first time on Monday night, and last night their curious postures continued.
So for productive: I mowed the strip of grass next to our driveway which was getting out of hand (didn't have it in me to do the yard proper though, but you can't see it much behind our fence). I'm also giving up on our front yard - I'll try and plant some ground cover next spring, because this weeding is for the birds! After getting dinner together and eating with the cats I tidied up a bit and settled down to read the paper and finally loaded Loreena McKennitt onto my iPod from CDs (Brian never ripped them to MP3 originally, when he went through our music collection). Her new album is coming out 'in the fall', but she's keeping under wraps exactly when. I like listening to her at this time of year.
I had an idea on a birthday gift, so I took an unplanned trip out to pick it up (Damone provides good cruising music - go vote for them for the Boston Music Awards). I still got home early enough to enjoy some tea, more of That 70's Show Season 4 (Season 5 comes out on DVD in mid-October) and I got my knitting project started. It looks OK at the moment - we'll see how long it takes to come together and how it fits. I really hope it works, because I love the yarn that I found for it and I think the recipient will too.
Hopefully TONIGHT we'll drop off the furniture we tried to deliver on Sunday (before Brian's brakes went) and we need groceries. I can't believe its already Wednesday!
I'm also fighting off the cold that Brian's had over the last week or so - YOU WILL NOT WIN GERMS, I AM STRONGER THAN YOU! :)
