A friend asked: What songs evoke a memory for you, and what is the memory?

Often entire albums or artists do this for me. Scanning my iPod, here's some biggies:

Home (in many senses): Waltham or Damone
Childhood: Muppets Soundtracks, Rick Springfield
Painting with Dad: The Beatles or McCartney
Home Construction: Aerosmith or Journey
Childhood Dance School: Fame/Flashdance/The Pointer Sisters

Jr. High: Metallica, Megadeth
First Boyfriend: Black Sabbath, Jane's Addiction
High School: Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Kiss, Prince, Madonna's Blond Ambition era, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wheatus "Teenage Dirtbag"
All-Age Shows: Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Allstonians, Sam Black Church, Only Living Witness, Slapshot

Undergrad: 10,000 Maniacs, Tori Amos, The Smiths, Smashing Pumpkins
RHPS: "The Crow" Soundtrack, some NIN, Gary Numan
Early (to me) Manray: Dead Can Dance, Nick Cave, Thrill Kill Kult, Lords of Acid
Faire: Loreena McKennit, Bedlam, Sterling Renaissance Festival "A Time Together"

Sometimes when a mid-80s song comes on, I remark that it reminds me of naked pre-teen boys. That usually gets me some odd looks. When I was in the 7th grade, they always played the radio in the locker room when we were showering. So any song that was played heavily during that year reminds me of boys showering. It's kind of disturbing.
