Crazy Weekend
Apr. 14th, 2007 08:07 pmYesterday was Krista's Friday the 13th Birthday. Since we couldn't get reservations for her dinner until 9:15 PM, we had dessert before dinner (cake and formal tea), she opened gifts, we went to dinner (The Rainforest Cafe, one of her favorite places) and then went dancing at The Phoenix Landing. She seemed to enjoy herself - the schmoop was mighty!

Brian and I grouted the bathroom today. We'll do some odds and ends in there tomorrow and the plumber is coming Monday to hook everything up. We bought some new towels (black) and I found these awesome Art Deco style frames at Target of all places ($12 or so each) that I want to encorporate into there somehow. I had already suggested we put some photos of Dita in there and Brian went through his library to find some that would be period and bathroom appropriate. He printed a stack and I picked out my favorites - three of them. Viola!

We're going to the Buffy Musical/Prom tonight at The Coolidge. I borrowed a fabulous red 70's disco looking dress from Krista that's polyester, has a huge sequined applique and a slit up one leg ; I'm going for the female dancing demon thing sans the red skin (I'll bring my boller, fishnets and black t-strap tap shoes). Brian should look smashing in his kilt, stompy boots, a red bow tie from one of my old dance costumes (if it doesn't look dumb with the shirt) and his vampire fangs. Hopefully we'll get some good pics of us before we head out.
Tomorrow aside from some small tweaky stuff in the bathroom, we veg. I'm so looking forward to this!

Date: 2007-04-15 12:40 am (UTC)I have a tile-related question that was prompted by your grouting, and which you can feel free to ignore:
The little tiles of my (new-to-me) bathroom floor are popping out. Since this started after I did a deep cleaning, I suspect that all that was holding them in was the years-long accumulation of dirt and soap scum that was obliterated by this recent application of oxygen bleach. I'm thinking of pasting them back in (after doing a thorough wire-brush scrubbing) with Liquid Nails or this other "constructive adhesive" that I have, and grouting (and sealing the grout) later. (Note: my subfloor is as wavy as the waves breaking over Reveah Beach -- I think I'm sitting over a major fault in the Earth's crust) Wise? Is there something that sill grip better?

Date: 2007-04-15 01:26 am (UTC)you could butter the back of the tile and smoosh it back in where it goes. wait 24 hours, then re-grout.
the nice thing with thinset is that you put on a layer from 1/8 = 1/4 inch thick, so you can play with that extra depth to make sure the tile sits flush with the others.
