I've been thinking of redecorating our den (or rather, dressing it up a bit). The walls are all blue and seafoamy green and we have some wood elements in there. I keep coming back to using Tiki stuff in there (its probably also a function of the time of year, and seeing Tiki stuff everywhere).
Here's some pics of the current state:

There are white blinds behind those curtains. I'm wondering if getting some bamboo blinds would bring out the wood in the entertainment center. I'm sure they'd cost us a lot (there are a lot of windows in there - 2 solid walls since this used to be a porch . . . you can see it in my avatar on the right side of the house). I spent so much on those curtains and like them a lot actually, so I'm thinking the blinds would break up the blue. Maybe I could make some funky tiki inspired tiebacks?
I never new about the tiki culture before meeting a friend who is really into it. Who knew it was such a niche? There's tons of references out there in the int0rweb, you could totally get sucked in. We're not drinkers, but I think it would be fun to have a swanky tiki TV room - a place more conducive to chilling with friends. I'm not sure what Brian would think of that, but its something we can play with. This could be a lot of fun! :)
Do you have any fun tiki references you think I should check out?
