A Day Off

My annual Gyn appointment was today, so I took the day off. We have a generous vacation time policy and Brian and I never go anywhere, so I can take these from time to time. I love, love, love my Gyn! I picked her out last year figuring it would be good to establish myself with someone (rather than just seeing my PCP for that stuff) and this was our second visit. She's really thorough and informative and has great bedside manner while being casual at the same time. Does that make any sense? They are in the process of updating basic info in their records so we spent some time reviewing what was in there (Harvard Vanguard has had an EMR for years, but they are focusing on cleaning up stuff now). They still had me working as an Administrative Assistant at Secure Horizons (an old THP product) - I left that job in May of 1999! All of the important health related stuff was up to date however, so its all good. :)

There were actually a few couples in the waiting room while I was waiting, all of the women quite thin (of course sitting in a Gyn office, I'm always wondering why they are there - a mixed sex couple going in the exam room together). There was a very serious looking couple probably there before heading into the office for the day, and they both had kind of identical clothing: gray dress pants, blue button down shirts. They went in to the back area looking very nervous for her exam. As coincidence would have it they came out around the same time I did and we shared the elevator down to the parking garage. They were both grinning from ear to ear and squeezing each other's hands and looking like a couple of giddy teenagers. It looked like perhaps they are about to become new parents. Ah, life!

Post the MD I ran some errands and I'm home now. I'll mow the lawn and spend the rest of the day until dance class sewing. I'm finishing off that Leia dress so that I can start on other things. We have a troop next week, and she'll be all fresh and new and ready for it. Inara and garb up next, and somewhere in there will come some family photo scanning and ancestry stuff and knitting.

In more serious news, please keep Erik and Dale in your thoughts today folks. An awful administrative error somewhere resulted in their home being foreclosed on underneath them in February (of which they had no clue until yesterday, where they found a note on their door that they were to be out of the house in 3 days). You may not even know them, but if you've got the time please send them your positive thoughts - they could use it! :)

Yay for days off!

I try to avoid people watching in the GYN's office - I got out of the habit in CA when someone asked me how long I'd been trying to get pregnant (I was there for my yearly exam), and then regaled me with her trials on fertility drugs. There are things I don't need to know about strangers, and intimate details of their reproductive/sex lives are one of them. ;)

PS: It's EriK not EriC. (Well, without the capitalization at the end) :)

Re: Forclosure, they should check to make sure it's not a scam, it's been happening.

Its not a scam - they've got a lawyer working on it and all, but alas, its on the Suffolk County Registry of Deeds website even . . .

even so, they should really try to fight it tooth and nail. If they are unable to stop the forclosure, they have rights as tenants of the landlord, the bank that foreclosed, and they have rights as tenants.

Sorry, wish I could offer more info...
