We bought curtains for our den at Ikea last night. My were they cheap! They are lined and fairly heavy so I'm hoping they'll work well in the winter (without a blanket) but if we need to clip a blanket up behind them, so be it. They are these http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40120944 in green (not the yellow green pictured). Their curtains are extra long and come with iron-on hem tape so that you can set them at whatever length you need. One pack of 2 curtains, each one almost 5' wide for $50 - what a deal!
Next up: painting our front door. I picked up the paint this week so I'm hoping in the next week we can get the time to sand, prep and paint it. Whee!
Does anyone want to buy one/some of these tapestries from me:

We have a bunch that were purchased from Urban Outfitters in 2004 for $30 each. If I can even get $10 a piece it would be something - they are in great condition (I'll give you a deal if you take a bunch of them - lets talk). They can be used for curtains (as we did, clipped up) or bed spreads or even couch or chair covers - they are fairly large. Colors are blues, teal and gray.

Re: costumes?
Date: 2007-09-15 01:15 pm (UTC)I do indeed do costuming for myself, but I don't take comissions. My pace is very slow and I'm definitey an intermediate sewer, so I'm not so comfortable taking on jobs for others.
I'm on a couple of costuming LJ communities (con costuming, movie costumes) where you may be able to find someone. Also, I'm not sure what her schedule is but my friend Traci (Fieryredhead) is an amazing costumer and does take on commision work. She lives in Texas now but she was a Bostonian - her stuff is simply amazing.
I wish I knew of any other local folks that could help you out - unfortunately a lot of my costuming friends are in the same boat as me. :)
Good luck!
