I did get up 15 minutes earlier than I would on a normal work day, and despite some shoveling and slower driving I got here at about the same time I usually do. How is it that I'm here but most of my coworkers aren't (and I live the second furthest away)? Granted, I don't have kids to get up and out of the house which would be an added complication for some. Our parking lot is empty since folks are trying to pack themselves into the garage, and the clear snow-covered world looks so much prettier when you're not out driving in it.

There was lots of Arisia prep this weekend, including a run through of our ball performances (which will be very silly). In less than a week this will all be over, and I'm looking forward to getting back to normal life again.

They just plowed my street so getting to the office wasn't likely to happen -- you live on a bit more of a main road. I waited until nine before calling it in.

Plus a number of schools cancelled outright, including Waltham, so if you have school age children then you need to stay home with them.

Yes, just about every school in the greater Boston area (at least from Rockland to Wilmington to Wellesley) canceled today. That may be what helped your drive in be smoother than one would have expected. No teachers, students, buses, or parents on the roads.

I believe the Globe was the first to call it the "wimpification" of New England :) But I have to admit, since I have VPN access to work, I'm more likely to stay home on a day like today than even try to get to work. I do feel a little bad about it, coming from Michigan and all...
