Watch Factory construction is underway http://www.dailynewstribune.com/news/x2109420758/Company-ticks-toward-its-grand-opening . I spent lots of time riding my bike through corridors there when Dad rented a space for his graphic design/printing business. He shared stores of underground "secret" rooms that his father showed him where homeless people would squat (both of Dad's parents worked there making watches - that's where they met).

I saw Annie last Sunday http://www.dailynewstribune.com/arts/x2109420700/Reagles-Annie-bursts-with-energy with some folks from the dance studio. I've only seen the movie before, and I loved the show so much more for its emphasis on the time period. Sally Struthers was perfect as Miss Hannigan, and reportedly a sweet woman in person. There was a huge break between matinee and evening shows, and one of the orphan kids is a girl from my dance studio. Her Mom who lives near the theater hosted a lunch/pool party in between shows to keep the kids occupied and Sally got wind of it and just showed up there! My dance studio friend (very down to earth, hard-working, 5 kids with a plumber husband) sat and chatted with Sally on the deck feeding her homemade lasagna. How neat!

20 creepy baby items http://www.cracked.com/article_16475_20-baby-products-great-traumatizing-infants.html - OK, is it wrong that I think Metallica lullabies are a cool thing? Related somewhat, when driving down to my sister's cookout last week I realized that its totally time to get JD some Iron Maiden and old Metallica CDs since he's getting into that music, is old enough to think about the lyrics for himself, and he's taking guitar lessons in the fall. Bwahaha!

The Baby Keeper, Snot remover, and Pool Ring thing scare me.

The Peepee Teepees are stupid and don't work. We just lay a washcloth across L.

I'm not sure why that leash is waist-to-waist. The harness and wrist ones work fine!

I remember seeing the helmets advertised in a catalogue (along with knee pads). Unless your floors are concrete, there's no reason why a new walker needs a helmet. (Medical problems notwithstanding, but these helmets are targetted towards all toddlers.)

I kind of like the 3rd arm.

The Daddle. Um, yeah.

My sick sense of humor had me laughing at the hamburger costume. Though the poor babe was in a very awkward position.

I love the Metallica lullabies.

I've already blogged about the baby heels. ;)

the Baby Mop is funny, but I could never take it seriously. besides, Leo already earns his keep by helping us unload the clean dishes from the dishwasher and clean clothes from the dryer.

As for the man boobs, I don't see why a man couldn't just wear an SNS (Supplemental Nursing System) if he wanted to. Or, you know, just hold a bottle.

The baby toupees and tattoos are just wrong.

i actually sort of like the burger costume :)

metallica lullabies as long as the lyrics are clean, i think are awesome! i sing a hell of a lot of 'non traditional' lullibies to my son :P

the rest is scaaary.

I think all the Rockabye Baby CDs (there's more than just Metallica, there's NIN, Tool, Zeppelin, KISS, Radiohead, etc.) are simply instrumentals, so lyrics aren't an issue.

I found some on eMusic, sent it to my brother as a joke, and he used something similar (Vitamin String Quartet, which makes it all into classical music) for his wedding reception. Yep. Classical music does KISS.

Waltham Watches?

Most of my knowledge of them came from people showing off rare triangle shaped [livejournal.com profile] masons pocket watches that others would then covetously whisper, 'oh, it is a waltham watch...'
