Getting kids to eat well:

Yesterday was just a crazy, stressful day at work. I'm glad I had a dance class (good workout, now with floor exercises) to balance it out.

Post class I threw the stuff for a crock pot beef stew together and into the fridge to cook today while we're out. I've used the crockpot before for a couple of hours while we were home, but this is our first 'while you are out' application. I'm curious to see how it comes out, because the ingrediants were - weird (of course, I've never made beef stew before). I'm going to my cousin's after work for a haircut, so having this stuff ready when we both get back from work will be nice. Tomorrow I'm making a fritata with some of the CSA sausage (not in the casing), random veggies that are around and some eggs. Friday we'll go out (but cook a pulled pork for a pot luck on Saturday night) and on Sunday I'm planning on cooking the last ham steaks w/ our acorn squash and some roasted green beans. I love, love, love cooking at this time of year.

I just have to share: Bad Debt Leads to Theft of Goat by Man on Bike

I started watching the Coco Channel movie last night - thus far its very good. I don't know much about her life, but she's definitely had an impact on the word (and Shirley Maclain, wow).

I love this article:

http://wondertime.go.com/life-at-home/article/stealth-vegetable-smackdown.html

When my father was a boy, my grandma once told him to pack his suitcase for a little vacation — a little vacation that involved a masked Dr. Somebody knocking him unconscious and yoinking out his tonsils. Now that's the kind of deception I'm morally opposed to. But you want to Houdini some chickpeas into your child's birthday cake? You want to fold a Hubbard squash discreetly into her baked Alaska? Be my guest. I'm just saying — don't come crying to me when she's all grown up, sending her asparagus back to the chef to please be turned into a whoopie pie.

Now I am curious as to what "interesting" ingredients are in your beef stew.

I love coming home from work to find dinner is hot and ready in my crockpot. I literally have HUNDREDS of crockpot recipes. If you are ever in the market for somehting specific, let me know!

I have even found crockpot recipes for steel cut oats. They cook all night, and when you wake up, VOILA! Breakfast is hot and ready!
