Brian's off at some tree-hugging "department of people and process" (i.e. HR) thing at work today. Work Life Balance my ass! These guys work weekends all the time and really look forward to one they are free. Ah well, bookshelves will wait till he's back.

But, instead I'm going to finally buy a weedwacker and try and tame our yard a bit. I might get some landscapers cloth and try to clear the front of our yard a bit, transplanting the good/smaller plants elsewhere in the back yard, putting cloth down and shifting the mulch we have over it. There are some huge plants there I'm not sure I'll be able to move on my own (like hostas, and rose bushes). "Gardening for Dummies" seems to think that planting shrubs in spring or fall is OK, so I'll have to do some planning for the back bit that will have some, and then saving/buying. I'd love some holly in there - always wanted some!

Fun with domesticity - or something! :)

Fall is a great time to plant, 'cause the ground's nice and warm and the plants have a couple of months to stretch out and get comfortable before winter.

Plus, garden centers usually have the stuff on sale. ;)
