Brian and I had tapas and drinks with his coworkers for their holiday shindig at http://www.masarestaurant.com/boston/index.html last night.

I'm excited about seeing http://www.nothingliketheholidays.com/ tonight (after a townie dinner at http://www.chateaurestaurant.com/) with DW, EJ and his GF (we really need a good nickname for her, though EJ's 'Brazilian Bomb' just doesn't seem appropriate - maybe we should just call her 'The Bomb'? It still seems a bit inappropriate).

Half of my office is out today it seems, so it will be a tough day to be productive. Can you believe this rain? Thankfully its warm enough that we've avoided the snow and ice in the Boston area that they seem to be having elsewhere in the state.

People messing with my friends (particularly at this time of year) pisses me off. I'm trying to funnel that energy into something more positive than overprotective rage.

The music mix of the day comes courtesy of http://www.rasputina.com/ on random via my iPod. DW copied a http://www.beatallica.com/ album for me, and I couldn't help to laugh out loud! I really need to pick more of their stuff up. Let it be, let it be, hybrid children watch the sea . . .

How did you like the food at Masa? I had a sample of their stuff at a foodie event and it was good enough that I want to go to the restaurant at some point.

I did really love the food. A lot of it was hot and made me go for a glass of water or some bread, but it was all very yummy. My favorite was a chorizo w/raspberry sauce, Brian was all over the cheese empanadas and Aaron (Eeyrg's good friend who married them) was into the tuna tartare.

They did it as an open bar and passed tapas, so we didn't get to experience a normal dinner there (the restaurant was closed for this function, and opened its doors later to the regular crowd - salsa dancing at 9PM apparently). It was very pretty but kind of small, and not very conducive to mingling amongst the 80+ or so people there (I felt bad for Brian and Aaron, because it made socializing with people you don't know well kind of awkward). I think it would be nice for an intimate dinner with friends given the size/atmosphere, but I wouldn't be surprised if they choose another venue for their holiday function next year.

Thanks for the review! I'll keep it in mind for a small group dinner, hopefully sometime soon. :)

They are opening a Masa in Woburn/Winchester (same place as the Wholefoods) which is like 10 min from where I live and has parking. I am waiting for that to open to go try it - good to hear that it is tasty and spicy.
