My general luck with cars
Mar. 20th, 2001 10:02 pmSo, the leak in the antifreeze was not only due to a loose connection, not due to an old tube that needed to be replaced.
Its possibly the Head Gasket (or more complicated/expensive). My mechanic can do no more to it.
I'm bringing it to a Ford dealer to asses on Monday. If it costs $1000 or more I think I'll be in the market for a new car. BLAH!
I don't even know where to begin looking.

Good luck!

Cars
Date: 2001-03-21 05:54 am (UTC)Hopefully I can just fix mine, I love my car - I finally named it and it developed its own personality - only to have this happen :(
And isn't Saturn owned by GM?
Re: Cars
Date: 2001-03-21 08:59 am (UTC)Saturn Car Company is indeed GM:
The Saturn project was started at GM in the 80's to learn exactly why they were getting their asses kicked by Japanese manufacturers. They started by talking to people who had stopped buying American cars, learned what they liked about Japanese cars.
They took this and built a whole new company to design, build and sell cars in a totally new way. Generally speaking, it worked -- Saturns are very reliable (mostly--like anything, there are occasional lemons, one of which inspired www.saturnexposed.com, a ranty site) ... the buying experience is very casual and friendly and stress-free, and the service is excellent.
GM was supposed to take what it learned and apply it to the rest of the company. Instead, they pulled Saturn Car Company into GM Small Cars Division and started making some changes which haven't yet affected the quality of the car, but have changed some processes. On the other hand, they now have the resources to build the new LS and VUE series, so that's kinda cool.
Hope this answers your question!

well..
Date: 2001-03-21 07:18 am (UTC)Seriously, I seem to like foreign cars, and honda tend to last forever. I have an 11 year old prelude, and while it has quirks, it runs quite well. I had a 90 VW jetta as well, and it was beaten to hell and kept running. I suspect my next car, which may be within the year, will either be a VW Jetta or Passat, used.
Good value for the car imho.
And I did find a car in my fridge once. It was too small to drive though.
